Designating an official residence for the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.

Mr. Issa submitted the following joint resolution; which was referred
to the Committee on Armed Services, and in addition to the Committee on
House Administration, for a period to be subsequently determined by the
Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall
within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

JOINT RESOLUTION
Designating an official residence for the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. DESIGNATION OF OFFICIAL RESIDENCE FOR THE SPEAKER OF THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this
joint resolution, the Department of War shall designate a facility to
serve as the official residence of the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
SEC. 2. ADMINISTRATION.
The Department of War, in consultation with the Architect of the
Capitol, may furnish, maintain, repair, alter, and secure the residence
designated pursuant to section 1 for the official use of the Speaker of
the House of Representatives.
SEC. 3. USE OF APPROPRIATED FUNDS.
Amounts appropriated for the operation and maintenance of
facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of War may be used
to carry out this joint resolution, including, with respect to the
residence designated pursuant to section 1, expenses relating to--
(1) furnishing and improvements;
(2) utilities and communications;
(3) security and protective services; and
(4) official staffing and operational support.
SEC. 4. RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.
Nothing in this joint resolution shall be construed to confer
ownership of any designated residence upon the Speaker of the House of
Representatives or to create any personal property interest in such
residence.
SEC. 5. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This joint resolution shall take effect on the date of the
enactment of this joint resolution.
