Plain-English Summary

Expanding Remote Monitoring Access Act This bill establishes requirements for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with respect to coverage of remote monitoring services under Medicare. Remote monitoring services generally refers to the management and monitoring of a patient's health via remote data collection, such as through medical devices. Specifically, the CMS must ensure that, for the two years following this bill's enactment, coverage of these services allows for a minimum of two days of data collection over a 30-day period, regardless of whether the individual has or is suspected of having COVID-19. (The CMS temporarily authorized coverage for 2 days of data collection, rather than the normally required 16 days, during the COVID-19 public health emergency.) The CMS must report on implementation and related information, including potential coverage variations and requirements for providers that utilize these services.
