Plain-English Summary

This bill would modify child protection laws to better address the specific needs of American Indian and Alaska Native families involved in the child welfare system. It likely aims to increase tribal authority in custody decisions, preserve cultural connections for Native children, and ensure that federal child protection standards account for tribal sovereignty and Native family structures. The changes would affect Native families, child welfare agencies, and tribal governments working to keep Native children connected to their communities.
