Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood to better meet the needs of older youth who experienced foster care. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 25, 2026 Mr. Suozzi (for himself and Mr. Steube) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To support modernization of the John H. Chafee Foster Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood to better meet the needs of older youth who experienced foster care. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Supporting Older Foster Youth Act''. SEC. 2. INCREASE IN FUNDING. Section 477(h)(1) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 677(h)(1)) is amended by striking ``$140,000,000 or, beginning in fiscal year 2020, $143,000,000'' and inserting ``$163,000,000 for each fiscal year''. SEC. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. The amendment made by this Act shall take effect on October 1, 2026. <all>
