A BILL
To limit the total number of schedule C and schedule G positions in the
Federal Government, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Capping Appointed Positions Act''.
SEC. 2. LIMITATION ON SCHEDULE C AND SCHEDULE G POSITIONS IN FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in fiscal year 2027 and
each fiscal year thereafter, the total number of positions in the
executive branch of the Government of a confidential or policy-
determining character under schedule C of subpart C of part 213 of
title 5, Code of Federal Regulations (or any successor regulation), and
in schedule G in the excepted service (established by Executive Order
14317 relating to Creating Schedule G in the Excepted Service) may not
exceed 1,600.
