Plain-English Summary

The proposal would increase the amount of money available to investigate and prosecute fraud and abuse in Medicare, the federal health insurance program for seniors and some disabled people. This extra funding would help federal agencies catch cases where healthcare providers or companies illegally bill Medicare or provide unnecessary services. The change would affect Medicare's budget and potentially reduce fraudulent payments that waste taxpayer money.
