Mr. Amo (for himself and Mr. Magaziner) submitted the following
resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Education and
Workforce

RESOLUTION
Honoring the victims and survivors of the December 13, 2025, mass
shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
Whereas, on December 13, 2025, students were gathered in the Barus and Holley
Building at Brown University for a final exam review session when a
gunman entered the classroom and opened fire, killing two students and
injuring nine students;
Whereas the 2 students who lost their lives that day were--
(1) Ella Cook; and
(2) Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov;
Whereas the Providence Police, Rhode Island State Police, Brown University
Police, and Police Departments from North Providence, Cranston, East
Providence, Johnston, Pawtucket, Woonsocket, Warwick, Westerly, Lincoln,
Glocester, Massachusetts State Police, Fire Departments from Providence,
North Providence, Lincoln, West Warwick, Barrington, Central Falls,
Coventry, North Kingstown, Warwick, Cranston, Westerly, Woonsocket,
Attleboro (MA), Cumberland, Scituate, Warren, Johnston, Tiverton, East
Greenwich, Charlestown, Smithfield, Burrillville, Bristol, Little
Compton, Seekonk (MA), Foster, East Providence, Blackstone (MA), Fall
River Emergency Medical Services (MA), Alert Private Ambulance, Boston
Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, and Firearms, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States
Marshals, Homeland Security Investigations, the Internal Revenue
Service, Family Service of Rhode Island, Nonviolence Institute, and
other agencies immediately responded to the crisis with compassion and
care; and
Whereas the mass shooting took place 1 day before the 13th anniversary of the
Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting, which took the lives of 20 students
and 6 adults: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) condemns this senseless act of violence and offers its
condolences to those killed and injured and their families and
loved ones;
(2) honors the memory of Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz
Umurzokov;
(3) commends the first responders who responded to the
tragedy;
(4) expresses its solidarity with the Brown University
community, the City of Providence, and the State of Rhode
Island; and
(5) recognizes that the scourge of gun violence will not
end without Congressional action.
