Mr. Diaz-Balart submitted the following resolution; which was referred 
          to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

                               RESOLUTION

 
   Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the city of Miami Springs, 
                                Florida.

Whereas the city of Miami Springs was incorporated on August 23, 1926, and is a 
        historic municipality in Miami-Dade County known for its distinctive 
        character and strong sense of community;
Whereas Glenn Hammond Curtiss, celebrated nationally as the ``Father of Naval 
        Aviation'' for his pioneering work in developing the first United States 
        Navy aircraft and advancing early seaplane technology, founded the city 
        of Miami Springs, originally known as Country Club Estates, as one of 
        Florida's first planned communities reflecting his innovative spirit;
Whereas the city was renamed Miami Springs in 1930 for the natural freshwater 
        spring that nourished the region and supplied parts of Miami through the 
        mid-1990s;
Whereas, in the 1930s, residential development supported Eastern Air Lines 
        employees, aligning the city's growth closely with Miami's aviation 
        industry;
Whereas Miami Springs has deep roots in aviation history, with its proximity to 
        Miami International Airport linking it to the early growth of air travel 
        in South Florida and shaping its identity as an aviation-centered 
        community;
Whereas, during World War II, Miami Springs played a vital role in supporting 
        the war effort, including serving as a recovery site for military 
        personnel and fostering strong community-led patriotic initiatives;
Whereas the Glenn H. Curtiss Mansion, constructed in 1925 in the Pueblo Revival 
        style and restored through a significant community effort, was 
        designated as a local historic site in 1987 and stands today as a 
        National Register of Historic Places landmark and a symbol of the city's 
        origins;
Whereas Miami Springs was recognized as a Preserve America Community in 2008 by 
        First Lady Laura Bush;
Whereas the city is widely recognized for its commitment to preserving green 
        space, featuring tree-lined streets, numerous parks, and a focus on 
        maintaining a high quality of life for residents;
Whereas the Miami Springs Golf & Country Club, originally the Miami-Hialeah Golf 
        Club, was established in 1923, becoming the region's first municipal 
        golf course and home to the Miami Open for three decades;
Whereas the historic Miami Springs Golf & Country Club serves as a community 
        landmark and gathering place, reflecting the city's heritage and 
        longstanding traditions;
Whereas the city's historic incoming and outgoing canal bridges serve as iconic 
        gateways, reflecting the original design and planning that define Miami 
        Springs' unique architectural character;
Whereas Miami Springs' official slogan, ``At the Heart of it All!'', reflects 
        its central location, connectedness, and enduring civic pride; and
Whereas, as Miami Springs approaches its centennial in 2026, it marks 100 years 
        of history, growth, and community spirit, while continuing to preserve 
        its unique identity and plan for a vibrant future: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) congratulates the city of Miami Springs on the occasion 
        of its 100th anniversary;
            (2) recognizes and appreciates the significant historic and 
        cultural impact of the city of Miami Springs on the South 
        Florida region and the United States as a whole; and
            (3) commends and honors the people of the city of Miami 
        Springs for their unique and significant contributions to the 
        prosperity, culture, and history of the United States.
