                            October 1, 2026

   Mr. Bacon (for himself and Ms. Velazquez) submitted the following
 resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce

                               RESOLUTION

Expressing support for the designation of October 15, 2026, as ``Liver
                        Cancer Awareness Day''.

Whereas October is widely recognized as Liver Cancer Awareness Month in the
        United States;
Whereas liver cancer is a deadly and rapidly growing public health threat in the
        United States that demands greater national awareness and urgent
        congressional action;
Whereas liver cancer disproportionately impacts men and certain racial and
        ethnic populations, including Hispanic and American Indian communities;
Whereas liver cancer has a disproportionately high mortality rate relative to
        incidence, but survival improves dramatically when detected early,
        turning awareness and screening into lifesaving tools;
Whereas gaps in awareness among patients and providers frequently lead to missed
        or delayed screenings that could enable curative treatment instead of
        late-stage palliative care;
Whereas public awareness campaigns are a proven tool for increasing screening
        rates and early detection across many diseases; and
Whereas establishing October 15 as a national observance for ``Liver Cancer
        Awareness Day'' will focus public, clinical, and community attention on
        prevention, risk identification, and timely testing: Now, therefore, be
        it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) supports the designation of ``Liver Cancer Awareness
        Day'';
            (2) recognizes the efforts of patients, families,
        advocates, researchers, health care providers, and
        manufacturers of early liver cancer testing to raise awareness
        and promote early detection; and
            (3) encourages the people of the United States and
        interested groups to observe the day with appropriate programs
        and activities that promote liver cancer prevention, education
        on risk factors, and the importance of early detection.
