No Federal Expansion Designation in West Texas Act or the No FED in West Texas Act This bill prohibits the Department of the Interior from finalizing, implementing, administering, or enforcing its 2023 final land protection plan and environmental assessment for the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge in Texas. The plan allows Interior to expand the refuge and purchase lands or acquire conservation easements on up to 700,000 acres of land in the Southern High Plains region along the Texas-New Mexico border.

[Congressional Bills 119th Congress] [From the U.S. Government Publishing Office] [S. 4412 Introduced in Senate (IS)] <DOC> 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 4412 To prohibit the implementation of a Land Protection Plan for Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES April 28, 2026 Mr. Cruz introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To prohibit the implementation of a Land Protection Plan for Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``No Federal Expansion Designation in West Texas Act'' or the ``No FED in West Texas Act''. SEC. 2. IMPLEMENTATION OF LAND PROTECTION PLAN FOR MULESHOE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE PROHIBITED. The Secretary of the Interior may not finalize, implement, administer, or enforce the Land Protection Plan described in the document published by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service entitled ``Final Land Protection Plan & Environmental Assessment Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge'' and dated February 2023, or a substantially similar land protection plan. <all>
