Plain-English Summary
Federally recognized Indian Tribes would be allowed to lease their trust lands for up to 99 years instead of shorter lease periods, giving them more flexibility in long-term development and business deals. This change would affect tribal governments and businesses that want to undertake major projects like housing, agriculture, or commercial ventures that require decades-long commitments. The longer lease terms could help tribes attract investors and partners who need assurance their projects will have stability over many decades.
