[Congressional Bills 119th Congress] [From the U.S. Government Publishing Office] [S. 5510 Introduced in Senate (IS)] <DOC> 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 5510 To amend title 18, United States Code, to modify the offense of bribery of public officials and witnesses. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES September 24, 2026 Mr. Kim (for himself and Mr. Booker) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To amend title 18, United States Code, to modify the offense of bribery of public officials and witnesses. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Anti-Bribery Improvement Act''. SEC. 2. BRIBERY OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND WITNESSES. Section 201 of title 18, United States Code, is amended-- (1) in subsection (a)-- (A) in paragraph (2), by striking ``and'' at the end; (B) in paragraph (3), by striking the period at the end and inserting ``; and''; and (C) by adding at the end the following: ``(4) the term `access' means use of a public official's ability to influence any decision or action on any question or matter, which may at any time be pending, or which may by law be brought before such public official, in such official's official capacity, or in such official's place of trust or profit.''; and (2) in subsection (b)-- (A) in paragraph (1)-- (i) in subparagraph (A), by striking ``or'' at the end; (ii) in subparagraph (B), by striking ``or'' at the end; (iii) in subparagraph (C), by adding ``or'' at the end; and (iv) by adding at the end the following: ``(D) to induce such public official or person who has been selected to be a public official to, through an explicit promise or undertaking, provide access;''; and (B) in paragraph (2)-- (i) in subparagraph (B), by striking ``or'' at the end; (ii) in subparagraph (C), by adding ``or'' at the end; and (iii) by adding at the end the following: ``(D) making an explicit promise or undertaking to provide access;''. <all>
