[Congressional Bills 119th Congress] [From the U.S. Government Publishing Office] [S. 5608 Introduced in Senate (IS)] <DOC> 119th CONGRESS 2d Session S. 5608 To extend the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000, and for other purposes. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES September 30, 2026 Mr. Crapo (for himself, Mr. Wyden, Mr. Risch, and Mr. Merkley) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To extend the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act of 2026''. SEC. 2. EXTENSION OF SECURE RURAL SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY SELF- DETERMINATION ACT OF 2000. (a) Secure Payments for States and Counties Containing Federal Land.-- (1) Secure payments.--Section 101 of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7111) is amended, in subsections (a) and (b), by striking ``2026'' each place it appears and inserting ``2029''. (2) Distribution of payments to eligible counties.--Section 103(d)(2) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self- Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7113(d)(2)) is amended by striking ``2026'' and inserting ``2029''. (b) Extension of Authority To Conduct Special Projects on Federal Land.-- (1) Committee composition waiver authority.--Section 205(d)(6)(C) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self- Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7125(d)(6)(C)) is amended by striking ``2026'' and inserting ``2029''. (2) Extension of authority.--Section 208 of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7128) is amended-- (A) in subsection (a), by striking ``2028'' and inserting ``2031''; and (B) in subsection (b), by striking ``2029'' and inserting ``2032''. (c) Extension of Authority To Expend County Funds.--Section 305 of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7144) is amended-- (1) in subsection (a), by striking ``2028'' and inserting ``2031''; and (2) in subsection (b), by striking ``2029'' and inserting ``2032''. SEC. 3. RESOURCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE PILOT PROGRAM EXTENSION. Section 205(g)(5) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self- Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7125(g)(5)) is amended by striking ``2026'' and inserting ``2029''. SEC. 4. TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS. (a) Definition.--Section 3(2)(A)(ii) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7102(2)(A)(ii)) is amended by inserting ``of'' before ``acres''. (b) Submission of Project Proposals.--Section 203(b)(6)(A) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7123(b)(6)(A)) is amended by striking ``the project,'' and inserting ``project''. (c) Resource Advisory Committees.--Section 205(a)(3) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7125(a)(3)) is amended by striking ``may,'' and inserting ``may''. <all>
