 bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Banking, 
                       Housing, and Urban Affairs

                                 A BILL

 
To provide for the protection of the duties of the Inspector General of 
                  the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. EXPENSES OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF THE FEDERAL HOUSING 
              FINANCE AGENCY.

    Section 1316(a) of the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety 
and Soundness Act of 1992 (12 U.S.C. 4516(a)) is amended--
            (1) in paragraph (3), by striking ``and'' at the end;
            (2) in paragraph (4), by striking the period at the end and 
        inserting ``; and''; and
            (3) by adding at the end the following:
            ``(5) the expenses of the Inspector General of the Agency, 
        as independently determined by the Inspector General.''.
