    Mr. Booker (for himself and Mr. Tillis) submitted the following 
  resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations

                               RESOLUTION

 
  Celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Peace 
Corps, and commending its volunteers and contributions to global peace, 
                      friendship, and development.

Whereas on March 1, 1961, President John F. Kennedy issued his historic call to 
        service and established the Peace Corps, launching a new era of American 
        volunteerism abroad;
Whereas over the past 65 years, nearly 250,000 Americans have served as Peace 
        Corps volunteers in 144 countries, fostering people-to-people diplomacy 
        in areas such as education, health, agriculture, environment, youth in 
        development, and community economic development;
Whereas the Peace Corps continues to exemplify ``the toughest job you'll ever 
        love'', building sustainable partnerships and strengthening communities 
        around the world;
Whereas the Peace Corps has enhanced global perceptions of the United States by 
        demonstrating American values through service, humility, cultural 
        exchange, and partnership rather than through political or military 
        means;
Whereas returned Peace Corps volunteers bring home invaluable linguistic, 
        cultural, and technical skills that strengthen the United States 
        workforce, expand America's global competency, and enhance the Nation's 
        diplomatic and economic competitiveness;
Whereas the Peace Corps has contributed to United States national security by 
        strengthening international stability, promoting economic growth, and 
        addressing root causes of conflict through education, empowerment, and 
        community development;
Whereas Peace Corps volunteers have exemplified American leadership through 
        volunteerism, generosity, and service to others; and
Whereas Peace Corps service has inspired generations of Americans to pursue 
        careers in public service, education, economic development, diplomacy, 
        and health, creating a lasting pipeline of globally minded civic 
        leaders; Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the Senate--
            (1) celebrates the 65th anniversary of the founding of the 
        Peace Corps;
            (2) honors the nearly 250,000 individuals who have served 
        as Peace Corps volunteers for their dedication to peace, 
        friendship, and community-driven development; and
            (3) commends the Peace Corps' enduring mission to put 
        purpose, passion, and skills to work for the United States and 
        the world.
