RES. 1367 Honoring the tremendous effort undertaken by the good people of Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas, and surrounding communities in getting the heartland ready for the World Cup. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 15, 2026 Mr. Alford (for himself, Mr. Mann, Mr. Bell, and Mr. Cleaver) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs _______________________________________________________________________ RESOLUTION Honoring the tremendous effort undertaken by the good people of Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas, and surrounding communities in getting the heartland ready for the World Cup. Whereas the World Cup is the most popular international sporting event, drawing the attention of 6 billion viewers worldwide; Whereas the 2026 World Cup is the largest tournament in history with 104 matches, 48 teams with games to be staged in 3 countries; Whereas Kansas City is the smallest United States city of 11 to be selected, yet quickly established itself as ``Soccer Capital of America'', due to its outstanding facilities, excellent hospitality and great central location; Whereas Kansas City offers players and fans alike an outstanding location in which to enjoy the games; and Whereas first responders, public works, transportation officials, and volunteers have all worked diligently to provide a safe, clean and accessible environment, which guests and locals can enjoy a fun and entertaining time: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives-- (1) honors the dedication and hard work and effort of all the Kansas City and surrounding Missouri and Kansas communities for creating an outstanding environment to house such an event; (2) recognizes the difficulty and extraordinary effort required to undertake putting together such an event; (3) affirms the commitment to the American people that global events will not always be housed in American megacities; and (4) commends the small businesses, teams, schools, volunteers, and officials for their dedication to their city in welcoming the world. <all>
