Whereas the World Cup is the most popular international sporting event, drawing the attention of 6 billion viewers worldwide; Whereas the 2026 World Cup is the largest tournament in history with 104 matches, 48 teams with games to be staged in 3 countries; Whereas Kansas City is the smallest United States city of 11 to be selected, yet quickly established itself as ``Soccer Capital of America'', due to its outstanding facilities, excellent hospitality and great central location; Whereas Kansas City offers players and fans alike an outstanding location in which to enjoy the games; and Whereas first responders, public works, transportation officials, and volunteers have all worked diligently to provide a safe, clean and accessible environment, which guests and locals can enjoy a fun and entertaining time: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives-- (1) honors the dedication and hard work and effort of all the Kansas City and surrounding Missouri and Kansas communities for creating an outstanding environment to house such an event; (2) recognizes the difficulty and extraordinary effort required to undertake putting together such an event; (3) affirms the commitment to the American people that global events will not always be housed in American megacities; and (4) commends the small businesses, teams, schools, volunteers, and officials for their dedication to their city in welcoming the world. <all>
