RES. 888 Congratulating the Paseo Verde Little League baseball team on winning the 2026 Little League World Series United States Championship. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES September 23, 2026 Ms. Cortez Masto (for herself and Ms. Rosen) submitted the following resolution; which was considered and agreed to _______________________________________________________________________ RESOLUTION Congratulating the Paseo Verde Little League baseball team on winning the 2026 Little League World Series United States Championship. Whereas, on August 29, 2026, the Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada, representing the Mountain Region, defeated the Hamilton West Side Little League of Ohio in the United States Championship Game of the 2026 Little League World Series; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League earned its place in the 2026 Little League World Series after winning the Nevada State Championship and advancing through the Mountain Region Tournament undefeated; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League defeated Billings Big Sky Little League of Montana, 9-2, in the Mountain Region Championship Game to earn its second appearance in the Little League World Series in 3 years; Whereas, in Williamsport, the Paseo Verde Little League opened its World Series tournament with a dramatic 6-5 victory over the Hamilton West Side Little League of Ohio, overcoming a 3-run deficit and winning on a walk- off single by Hudson Cowley; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League continued its remarkable run by defeating the Soundview Little League of Washington, 5-0, advancing further in the tournament; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League then defeated the Davenport Northwest Little League of Iowa, 14-6, in the United States semifinal, exploding for 9 runs in the sixth inning and progressing to the United States Championship Game undefeated; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League again beat the Hamilton West Side Little League of Ohio, 12-2, clinching the United States title for a second straight year for Nevada; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League players each contributed to the team's United States championship and demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, teamwork, and resilience throughout their championship run; Whereas manager Cory Edwards, the coaches, volunteers, parents, families, and supporters have all played an essential role in developing young athletes and building a culture of character, confidence, and teamwork within Paseo Verde Little League; Whereas the Paseo Verde Little League has become a source of tremendous pride for Henderson, Southern Nevada, and the entire State of Nevada through its outstanding performance on the national stage; and Whereas the 2026 Paseo Verde Little League team has inspired young athletes throughout Nevada and demonstrated that hard work, perseverance, and collaboration can carry a community to the highest levels of youth baseball: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the Senate congratulates and honors the Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada, on winning the 2026 Little League World Series United States Championship and commends the players, coaches, families, volunteers, and supporters for their extraordinary achievement. <all>
