Ms. SMITH (for herself and Ms. Klobuchar) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill S. 2, to provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of S. Con. Res. 33; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place, insert the following: SEC. ___. ENSURING COOPERATION BETWEEN FEDERAL AND STATE INVESTIGATIVE AUTHORITIES REGARDING CIVILIAN DEATHS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. Whenever a Federal law enforcement officer is involved in an enforcement action that results in the death of any civilian, the head of the Federal agency for which such officer is employed, shall ensure full cooperation between Federal and State investigative authorities with respect to the investigation of such death. ______
