HONORING MAYOR HANDSHOE

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 109 (Tuesday, June 30, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 109 (Tuesday, June 30, 2026)] [House] [Page H4349] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING MAYOR HANDSHOE (Mr. STUTZMAN asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. STUTZMAN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the late former Kendallville mayor and friend, SuzAnne Handshoe. Mayor Handshoe serves as an example for all of us to follow for her dedication to her community and her country. Her military career is beyond admirable, as she served 24 years as a U.S. marine and was inducted into the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame. After retiring from the military, her service to her community did not stop. In 2004, Mayor Handshoe became Kendallville's first woman mayor and worked every day to improve the town of Kendallville for its residents. She had an unstoppable determination to push Kendallville forward, and she tackled every issue with energy and enthusiasm. Sadly, she passed away this week after losing a battle with cancer at the age of 66. She will truly be missed by all of us, but her legacy of service, kindness, and dedication to others will not be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, Randy, and her community. We will miss her dearly. May she rest in peace. ____________________
