Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 93 (Tuesday, June 2, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 93 (Tuesday, June 2, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Pages E509-E510] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] EID AL-ADHA ______ HON. THOMAS R. SUOZZI of new york in the house of representatives Tuesday, June 2, 2026 Mr. SUOZZI. Mr. Speaker, I rise today, as Chair of the Pakistan Caucus, during Asian American Heritage Month, to wish Muslim Americans a blessed Eid al-Adha. Happy Eid (Eid Mubarak). Eid al-Adha, the festival of Sacrifice, is the holiest holiday in Islam. It commemorates faith, mercy, sacrifice, and devotion to God. Eid traditions include prayer, [[Page E510]] spending time with family and loved ones, wearing new clothes, and sharing meals and charitable gifts with those who are less fortunate. This is also a sacred time of reflection when many Muslims start their Haaj, or holy pilgrimage to Mecca, a central pillar of Islam. I wish those making the Haaj, a safe and meaningful pilgrimage. As Chair of the Pakistan Caucus, I am especially proud to recognize the enormous contributions of Pakistani Americans and Muslim Americans to our nation during this Asian American month. Our country is stronger and more successful for the Pakistani-American diaspora, and the values of hard work, family, and faith they bring. I also want to join the Muslim American community in mourning after the awful shooting at the San Diego Islamic center just a few days ago. At a time when the world can feel divided, holidays like this remind us of our shared humanity. Eid Mubarak, and may God bless all those celebrating. ____________________
