Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger Statement on Budget Reconciliation Resolution

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger Statement on Budget Reconciliation Resolution Mark.Mansour@m… Wed, 02/03/2021 - 18:01 Image Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger released the following statement today regarding the partisan budget reconciliation proposal by President Biden and Congressional Democrats. “By using the reconciliation process, President Biden and Congressional Democrats are imposing a partisan and fiscally irresponsible agenda on the American people under the disguise of pandemic relief,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “This unilateral action proves their calls for unity are nothing more than empty promises. We should focus on providing targeted and effective relief for those who actually need it instead of implementing a left-wing wish list that includes increasing the minimum wage and bailing out fiscally reckless states like California and New York.” President Biden’s expensive proposal includes $1.9 trillion in spending while more than $1 trillion in funds from previously enacted COVID-relief laws remain unspent. The proposal contains, among other measures, the $15/hour federal minimum wage mandate, which would lead to 1.3 million Americans losing their jobs according to an estimate from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, and $350 billion to bailout state and local governments. ### Congress Number 117th Congress February 3, 2021 Press Release February 3, 2021
