Rep. Haridopolos Requests Pay Be Withheld Amid DHS Shutdown

Rep. Haridopolos Requests Pay Be Withheld Amid DHS Shutdown Kaley.Stidham@… Thu, 03/26/2026 - 16:34 Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) formally requested that his congressional salary be withheld for the duration of the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding lapse. This partial government shutdown has now dragged on for 40 days, leaving more than 180,000 essential DHS employees working without compensation. “While TSA agents, Border Patrol officers, and other DHS personnel are showing up every day to keep Americans safe without a paycheck, members of Congress should not be paid either. That is why I have asked for my pay to be withheld,” said Congressman Haridopolos. “Bills don’t pause. Life doesn’t pause. But paychecks have, and families across this country are being forced to make impossible choices because Democrats are refusing to prioritize national security over their far-Left agenda.” Congressman Haridopolos voted on five occasions to fully fund DHS and is continuing to call on Senate Democrats to stop playing politics with Americans’ livelihoods and pass a funding bill to end the shutdown immediately.
