Joint Leadership Statement on Republicans Refusing to End the Airport Chaos

Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar issued the following statement: For more than 40 days, Donald Trump and Republicans have subjected the American people to chaos at our airports. They shut down the Department of Homeland Security so that ICE could continue to brutalize the American people without consequence. Instead of working in good faith to reach an agreement to reopen the government, GOP extremists decided to cause chaos at airports and force TSA agents to work without pay, jeopardizing the safety of the American people. After weeks of Republican obstruction, there is now bipartisan legislation that has passed the Senate that funds the TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA and our cybersecurity professionals. The only thing standing between the American people and a much-needed end to the airport chaos is House Republicans. The House should consider the bipartisan DHS funding bill immediately. ###
