Mr. SCHATZ submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 4784, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2027 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title X, insert the following: SEC. ___. PENTAGON PRESS ACCESS. Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall-- (1) restore to the press access to areas of the Pentagon that were accessible to the press on May 22, 2025, including the ``Correspondence Corridor'' and other designated press working spaces; (2) restore to the press unescorted access to relevant areas of the Pentagon that were accessible without an escort on May 22, 2025; (3) require the Pentagon Force Protection Agency to lead the process to manage press credentials; and (4) prohibit any changes to press access at the Pentagon, including the designation of press work spaces, access areas, and press credentials, without prior consultation with the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate and the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives. ______
