Dear Friend, As your U.S. Senator, I want to keep you posted on the work I'm doing on your behalf in Nebraska and Washington. In this newsletter, you will find my most recent update. If you have comments or questions, please click here to send a message. Questioning the Ag Secretary on wildfire disaster assistance, improving FSA processes As Nebraskans recover from historic wildfires, I questioned U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins on how the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) can deliver disaster assistance faster, including improving Farm Service Agency processing. Click above to watch. ICYMI: My Emergency Conservation Program Improvement Act, to expedite ag producers' access to federal disaster relief, passed the Senate. Click here to read more. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I secured federal funding to invest in a new, reliable boiler system and make sure this team can continue their incredible work. In the news: The Frontier and Holt County Independent: U.S. Senator Deb Fischer Pays Visit to St. Anthony's Hospital USDA to relocate resources to Clay Center The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center will be expanding its federal research capabilities by receiving additional employees and projects to the state. This move by USDA will benefit Nebraska's farmers and ranchers and is a real effort to place folks in the field, closer to those who are impacted by their work. Click here to read my full statement. In the news: Rural Radio: USDA plans to move more research to USMARC in Nebraska as part of reorganization Chadron Radio: Fischer Welcomes USDA Announcement to Relocate Research Project to Clay Center Sending off the National Guard I was honored to address the Nebraska National Guard as they prepare to deploy to East Africa. To our national guard and their families: thank you. As an American, and proud Nebraskan, I'm deeply grateful for your service to our country. In the news: KETV: "They really are indispensable': Nebraska National Guard deploys to Djibouti for 10-month mission Visit to Smeal Fire Apparatus When I think about true, quality American manufacturing, I think of Smeal Fire Apparatus in Snyder. This incredible team assembles fire engines for departments across the country, and I was pleased to stop in and see their facility. Our firefighters need the best equipment they can get, and this crew is ready to meet the demand. Accepting applications for U.S. Service Academy nominations I'm proud to once again accept applications from young Nebraskans who are interested in attending one of our prestigious U.S. Service Academies. This is an incredible opportunity to serve our country and fellow Americans, and I encourage all who are interested to apply. Click here to learn more about the process.
