100TH ANNIVERSARY OF TEMPLE KNESSET ISRAEL

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 85 (Tuesday, May 19, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 85 (Tuesday, May 19, 2026)] [Senate] [Page S2369] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF TEMPLE KNESSET ISRAEL Mr. SCHIFF. Mr. President, today I rise to honor and celebrate Temple Knesset Israel in Los Angeles for its milestone 100th anniversary. Founded in 1926, Temple Knesset Israel has been a beacon of light for its community; a congregation that has shown an ability to grow in the modern world and build strong foundations for future generations. One of the oldest congregations in Los Angeles, Temple Knesset Israel has focused on giving its members spiritual connection and cultural awareness. Fostering strong ties to its visitors, the temple has been a cornerstone of empowering all religions and ethnicities. A place where everyone is welcome, Temple Knesset Israel has been a powerful force of good. The temple has always been a welcoming home for those in need. Comprised of congregants from many ethnic groups, Temple Knesset Israel is proud to be a congregation focused on inclusivity and community. Its continued efforts to educate its members and bring together those of all walks of life has made the congregation a critical part of the Los Angeles community. Temple Knesset Israel's spiritual leaders Rabbi Robert Elias and Cantor Lee Greenberg have been pillars of spiritual guidance and continuity throughout the years. Maintaining stability in trying times, these leaders have been a centerpiece for calm and perseverance. I ask all members to join me in acknowledging the importance of Temple Knesset Israel. Its impact on the Los Angeles region cannot be overstated, and for 100 years, it has worked to bring together the Jewish community with immensely positive impact. ____________________
