Boozman: Farmers Need Reliable, Affordable, Domestically Secure Fertilizer Supply

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Chairman John Boozman (R-AR) joined U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and members of the committee, Tuesday, to highlight the administration's efforts to lower fertilizer costs while calling for long-term strategies to strengthen access and affordability. Chairman Boozman, Sec. Rollins, other administration officials and members of Congress discussed fertilizer costs and supply at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. "Farmers across Arkansas have told me that the cost and availability of fertilizer have always been a concern, but as they head in to planting season this year, it's even more worrying," Boozman said . "These challenges highlight the broader issue: the need for a reliable, affordable and domestically secure supply of fertilizer." Boozman noted the committee will examine these concerns more closely and explore legislative solutions aimed at improving long-term stability and affordability for producers at a hearing in May. He also emphasized the importance of delivering immediate relief to farmers facing rising input costs. "In the short term, we must advance farmer assistance to help address the immediate needs of producers as they navigate these pressures," Boozman said. To watch the press conference click here .
