IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… Sen. Rick Scott Emphasizes Need for Florida Training Facility, Drone Defense in SASC Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, Senator Rick Scott participated in a Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) hearing on the Department of the Army's Defense Authorization Request for Fiscal Year 2027 and the Future Years Defense Program. During the hearing, Senator Scott emphasized the continued importance of the Capability Program Executive Simulation, Training, Test, and Threat Simulation Center in Orlando and the U.S. Military's drone posture for the future of warfare. You can watch his questions for the witnesses, Daniel P. Driscoll, Secretary of the Army and General Christopher C. LaNeve, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army by clicking HERE or on the image below HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HEARING: IS FLORIDA STILL LEADING THE WAY ON INNOVATING TRAINING EXERCISES? Secretary Driscoll said, "Simulation is more important than ever. The ability to take data from the battlefield, whether it's CENTCOM or what we can get out of Ukraine, and feed that into the system to learn. Not just for the human learning, but to train our counter-drone models and to train our drone models. As these agentic solutions start to flow, data and simulation will matter more than ever." General LaNeve said, "Our simulation center [Capability Program Executive Simulation, Training, Test & Threat in Orlando, Florida] is incredible. It's going to continue to be very, very important as we move onward with our modernization program. We are not stepping away from the incredible capacity that we have there." IS AMERICA'S MANUFACTURING BASE PREPARED FOR THE DRONE PRODUCTION OF MODERN WARFARE? Secretary Driscoll said, "Drones will be a core part of our future combat and no matter where you go, I think what we, as a nation, need to do is create the mechanisms and the tools to be able to scale when we need to." ###
