Norcross, Haddonfield officials cut ribbon on new police station

May 28, 2026: Congressman Donald Norcross speaks to audience at the opening of the new Haddonfield Police Station HADDONFIELD, NJ - Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today joined local, county and state officials to cut the ribbon on the Haddonfield Police Department's new headquarters at 1 Walnut Street. Norcross had previously secured half a million dollars in federal funding for the project. Haddonfield's Police Department was previously located in the basement of the roughly 100-year-old Borough Hall - a space that also served as a sealed fallout shelter during the Cold War. Due in part to longstanding flooding, mold, and ventilation issues, the building had repeatedly failed inspection and was no longer eligible for waivers to continue police work there. The new Walnut Street facility solves those issues, while also introducing more secure holding areas and additional evidence storage. Other additions include dedicated spaces for domestic violence prevention and trainings for deescalation and emergency management. "Our law enforcement officers provide a critical public service by keeping us safe, and I take pride in having their backs, too," said Norcross. "A new police station was an obvious need for Haddonfield, and I appreciate the community's partnership throughout the appropriations process. I'm excited to see this facility quickly pay dividends and will keep fighting to get South Jersey our fair share of federal resources." "Moving out of our previous basement headquarters and into a new modern facility represents a significant improvement for our officers," said Chief Jason Cutler of the Haddonfield Police Department. "The old space had substantial limitations, and this new building gives our department the environment and tools we need to serve the community safely and effectively. We are grateful for Congressman Norcross's support in helping secure the funding that made this project possible." In addition to Cutler, other officials present for the event included Haddonfield Mayor Dave Siedell and Commissioners Frank Troy and Itir Cole; Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli and Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich; U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development New Jersey Director Rick Stern; Haddonfield Fire Company Chaplain Reverand Dr. Chris Heckert; and New Jersey Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald. The half a million dollars Norcross secured for the facility came in the form of a Community Project Funding (CPF) grant in the fiscal year 2024 federal budget. CPFs are grants that individual Members of Congress can request from the Appropriations Committee for local projects that would benefit the district, subject to strict ethics oversight. In 2026, Norcross has secured roughly $12 million in CPF grants for 15 different projects across New Jersey's First Congressional District, including multiple investments for local first responders.
