Rep. Sewell Accepting Applications for Fall 2026 Internships

Washington D.C. - The Washington D.C. and district offices of U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) are currently accepting applications for fall 2026 interns. College students and recent graduates interested in government and public service are invited to apply for a chance to spend the semester working closely with Rep. Sewell's staff on a variety of important legislative, communications, and administrative tasks. "Interns are our future leaders, advocates, and changemakers," said Rep. Sewell. "Through my fall internship program, students have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in Congress, learn about the legislative process, and help serve the constituents of Alabama's 7th Congressional District. As someone who benefited from mentors who opened doors and created opportunities, I know how important it is for young people to see themselves in positions of leadership and public service. I encourage all interested students to apply and take advantage of this unique opportunity." Interns will have the opportunity to research legislation, draft letters, compile media clips, answer constituent calls, and attend legislative hearings, briefings, and seminars. Students with connections to Alabama that will be beginning their junior or senior years in an undergraduate program by September 2026 are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates should be proactive, professional, dependable, and have an interest in federal policy and the legislative process. Candidates should also possess strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to multitask, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. The Office of U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in the hiring process based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, military service, or other non-merit factors. BIPOC applicants and individuals in underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Monday, July 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
