Mr. CRUZ (for himself and Mr. Budd) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 4784, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2027 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title X, insert the following: SEC. ___. TREATMENT OF COMPULSORY EDUCATION AND HOMESCHOOLING LAWS OF STATES UNDER SERVICEMEMBERS CIVIL RELIEF ACT. (a) In General.--Title VII of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (50 U.S.C. 4021 et seq.) is amended by adding at the end the following new section: ``SEC. 708. COMPULSORY EDUCATION AND HOMESCHOOLING LAWS OF STATES. ``(a) In General.--A dependent child of a servicemember who is educated at home and is covered by military orders for a permanent change of station to a location shall be considered in compliance with all compulsory education and homeschooling provisions of law of the State of the location, if such dependent child is in compliance with all the compulsory education and homeschooling provisions of law of such State or the State of the legal residence of the servicemember. ``(b) Definition of Child.--In this section, the term `child' has the meaning given such term in section 101 of title 38, United States Code.''. (b) Clerical Amendment.--The table of contents in section 1(b) of such Act is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 707 the following new item: ``Sec. 708. Compulsory education and homeschooling laws of States.''. ______
