This bipartisan legislation modernizes and streamlines the federal commercial space launch licensing process through the creation of a centralized electronic portal within the Department of Transportation. “Florida’s Space Coast is leading the next generation of American space exploration and commercial launch innovation, and outdated federal bureaucracy should not slow down America’s ability to compete,” said Congressman Haridopolos. “The One Giant LEAP Act cuts red tape, improves transparency, and helps ensure the United States remains the global leader in space—because we can’t be number one on Earth if we are number two in space.” “I know firsthand how fast the commercial space industry moves, and our licensing process should support that innovation,” said Congressman Whitesides. “The One Giant LEAP Act will establish a modern, centralized portal that brings clarity, accountability, and efficiency to the licensing process.
