HONORING THE LIFE OF SERGEANT JOSE DUENEZ, JR.

Congressional Record, Volume 171 Issue 62 (Monday, April 7, 2025) [Congressional Record Volume 171, Number 62 (Monday, April 7, 2025)] [House] [Page H1428] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING THE LIFE OF SERGEANT JOSE DUENEZ, JR. (Ms. UNDERWOOD asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend her remarks.) Ms. UNDERWOOD. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the life of my constituent Sergeant Jose Duenez, Jr. Sergeant Duenez was described by his family as someone who always wanted to protect people. He enlisted right after high school and served with his whole heart. His family said: ``It is like it was in him to be a hero,'' and that is exactly what he was, an extraordinary hero. As we mourn this devastating loss, our community in Joliet stands with Sergeant Duenez' family: his wife, Kai; their 1-year-old son, Junior; and with all the loved ones of the four soldiers who lost their lives in Lithuania last month. Let us never forget their strength and resilience. Let us draw inspiration from their courage and selflessness. Let us thank them always for their service. ____________________
