COMMEMORATING THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MARQUETTE COUNCIL 588 Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 113 (Monday, July 13, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 113 (Monday, July 13, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Page E668] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] COMMEMORATING THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MARQUETTE COUNCIL 588 ______ HON. THOMAS H. KEAN, JR. of new jersey in the house of representatives Monday, July 13, 2026 Mr. KEAN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Knights of Columbus Marquette Council 588. For more than a century, Marquette Council 588 has faithfully served three Sussex County parishes in New Jersey: Our Lady of the Lake in Sparta, St. Thomas of Aquin in Ogdensburg, and Immaculate Conception in Franklin. Established in 1901, Marquette Council 588 stands among the oldest Knights of Columbus councils in both New Jersey and the United States. Their name honors Father Jacques Marquette, the French priest and explorer. Throughout its 125-year history, Marquette Council 588 has played an integral role in many behind-the-scenes activities within the parishes, and beyond. The Council's unwavering commitment is evident in its support for families in need, assistance to veterans, engagement with youth, and dedication to charitable service. Members consistently serve their neighbors, regardless of background or faith, embodying the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. The Knights actively live out the Beatitudes through both word and deed. Recent initiatives, such as delivering 3,000 Thanksgiving turkeys to families across Sussex County, collecting nearly 1,000 coats for those confronting winter's chill, and organizing numerous food drives clearly reflect their spirit of selfless service. As we celebrate Marquette Council 588's remarkable milestone, we extend our gratitude for 125 years of dedicated service to Sussex County and the State of New Jersey. I sincerely wish them continued success for the next 125 years and beyond. ____________________
