Ms. MURKOWSKI submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill S. 4784, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2027 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in subtitle G of title X, insert the following: SEC. ___. DISINTERMENT OF REMAINS OF MICHAEL ALAN SILKA FROM SITKA NATIONAL CEMETERY, ALASKA. (a) Disinterment.--Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall disinter the remains of Michael Alan Silka from Sitka National Cemetery, Alaska. (b) Notification.--The Secretary of Veterans Affairs may not carry out subsection (a) until after notifying the next of kin of Michael Alan Silka. (c) Disposition.--After carrying out subsection (a), the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall-- (1) relinquish the remains to the next of kin described in subsection (b); or (2) if no such next of kin responds to the notification under subsection (b), arrange for disposition of the remains as the Secretary determines appropriate. ______
