HONORING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROXBURY POLICE DEPARTMENT Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Page E936] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROXBURY POLICE DEPARTMENT ______ HON. THOMAS H. KEAN, JR. of new jersey in the house of representatives Wednesday, September 16, 2026 Mr. KEAN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the Roxbury Police Department in Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey, as it marks its 100th anniversary. This is a remarkable milestone reflecting a century of unwavering service and dedication to the good people of Succasunna, Ledgewood, Landing, Kenvil, Port Morris, and Berkshire Valley within Roxbury. Established in 1926, the Department began its journey under the leadership of its first Police Chief, Fred W. Plumstead. Chief Plumstead served with distinction until he was tragically killed in the line of duty less than three years after his appointment. His sacrifice remains a lasting part of the Department's history and serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and selflessness displayed by those who serve. For a hundred years, the Roxbury Police Department has been steadfast in its mission to protect the residents of Roxbury Township. Through generations, officers have consistently answered the call in times of need, providing both security and leadership. Throughout its history, two core principles have guided the Department: the belief that the people of Roxbury Township deserve dedicated and reliable protection, and the confidence that future generations of officers will continue to serve with courage, professionalism, and compassion. From its earliest days under Chief Plumstead to the officers serving today, the Roxbury Police Department has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the community Mr. Speaker, I invite my colleagues to join me in commemorating the Roxbury Police Department. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to its members on this significant occasion and celebrate the strength and spirit that define this essential community organization. ____________________
