Congressman Tim Kennedy issued the following statement today following President Trump’s latest comments on the war in Iran: “What the American people are witnessing from Donald Trump is weakness masquerading as strength. Threatening an entire civilization with annihilation, openly discussing the destruction of life-sustaining infrastructure, and preemptively confessing to war crimes is a stunning failure of leadership. “This war was started without the consent of the American people and without a vote of Congress. This President has no plan, no clear objectives, and no exit strategy. Working families across our nation are paying the price at the pump, the grocery store, and on their utility bills, footing the cost of a war they did not ask for and do not want. “While this administration chooses to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on a war of choice in the Middle East, I continue to stand firmly opposed to this reckless path. I call on Congressional Republicans to put our nation above their fear of President Trump and finally exercise the authority they have under the Constitution. Speaker Johnson must immediately bring a war powers resolution to the House Floor to bring an end to this illegal war and rein in this dangerous and delusional president.” ###
