MARTIN L. GRABER POST OFFICE Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 65 (Tuesday, April 14, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 65 (Tuesday, April 14, 2026)] [House] [Pages H2850-H2851] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] MARTIN L. GRABER POST OFFICE Mr. GILL of Texas. Madam Speaker, I move to suspend the rules and pass the bill (H.R. 4707) to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1019 Avenue H in Fort Madison, Iowa, as the ``Martin L. Graber Post Office''. The Clerk read the title of the bill. The text of the bill is as follows: H.R. 4707 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. MARTIN L. GRABER POST OFFICE. The Chair recognizes the gentleman from Texas. General Leave Mr. GILL of Texas. Madam Speaker, I ask unanimous consent that all Members may have 5 legislative days in which to revise and extend their remarks and include extraneous material on this measure. The SPEAKER pro tempore. Is there objection to the request of the gentleman from Texas? There was no objection. Mr. GILL of Texas. Madam Speaker, I yield 3 minutes to the gentlewoman from Iowa (Mrs. Miller-Meeks). Mrs. MILLER-MEEKS. Madam Speaker, I thank Representative Gill for yielding me time. Madam Speaker, I rise today in strong support of my bill, H.R. 4707, a bill renaming the post office in Fort Madison, Iowa, after Martin L. Graber, a patriot who lived his entire life in the indelible service to his State, his community, and our Nation. For 32 years, Martin Graber rose through the ranks of the Iowa Army National Guard, rising to the rank of brigadier general. Even beyond that, he and his wife, Coni, were almost the sole organizers of the Tri-State Rodeo, which happens every single year. It is a massive event in southeast Iowa. He and his wife, Coni, made sure that the rodeo was there, the horses were there, and the vendors were there. It is something that is looked forward to every August by everybody in the tristate area. In addition to that, following his three-decade-long tenure serving our Nation in the Iowa Army National Guard, he served in the Iowa State House, working with his colleagues to better the lives of hardworking Iowans. Every step of the way, he embodied the values we hold so dear in Iowa. Faith, family, and selfless work to his community, his State, and his Nation, things that we hold so dear, were the foundations for which Martin Graber lived. [[Page H2851]] Renaming the post office in Fort Madison in his honor is a small but everlasting gesture of appreciation for a man who spent his life serving his State and his Nation in the most decent and noble way possible, his service to our country. As someone who had the blessing of working with Martin, I am deeply proud to be leading this effort, alongside my colleagues in the Iowa delegation and his family, to honor a man who gave everything to his community and to his country. Madam Speaker, I ask my colleagues to strongly vote ``yes'' on this bill. Mr. SUBRAMANYAM. Madam Speaker, I yield myself such time as I may consume. Madam Speaker, I rise today also in support of H.R. 4707 to honor the life of Martin L. Graber by naming the post office in Fort Madison, Iowa, after him. Madam Speaker, I support this bill, and I yield back the balance of my time. Mr. GILL of Texas. Madam Speaker, I encourage my House colleagues to support this bill naming a post office for Brigadier General Martin L. Graber, and I yield back the balance of my time. The SPEAKER pro tempore. The question is on the motion offered by the gentleman from Texas (Mr. Gill) that the House suspend the rules and pass the bill, H.R. 4707. The question was taken; and (two-thirds being in the affirmative) the rules were suspended and the bill was passed. A motion to reconsider was laid on the table. ____________________ Referenced legislation: HR4707, HR4707
