Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)] [House] [Page H5964] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] CIDER MILL CELEBRATES 100 YEARS IN BUSINESS (Mr. RILEY of New York asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. RILEY of New York. Mr. Speaker, in upstate New York, we love our neighbors. We root for the underdog, and we cherish our traditions. Anyone from Broome County will tell you that one of our best traditions is a visit to the Cider Mill in Endicott to celebrate the start of fall. Generations of kids from our public schools have gone there for field trips to see upstate apples pressed into fresh cider, and eat warm doughnuts pulled straight out of the fryer. When I was growing up, I would stop at the Cider Mill on my walk home from school and use some of my paper route money for the best deal in town: a fresh doughnut and a pint of cider for a couple of bucks. When I brought my wife home to meet my parents for the first time, our first stop was not at my parent's house. It was at the Cider Mill. I think Monica loved it so much that she later said ``yes'' when I asked her to marry me. This year, the Cider Mill celebrates its 100th year in business. For over a century, folks have walked through the doors of that big red barn on Nanticoke Avenue and found not just crates of fresh apples but community. It is the type of place that brings people together, something we really need these days when so many forces are trying to pull us apart. Mr. Speaker, to all my friends at the Cider Mill and my neighbors who continue to support it, here is to 100 years of tradition and to many more ahead. ____________________
