RECOGNIZING CONSTITUTION DAY

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)] [House] [Page H5961] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] {time} 1910 RECOGNIZING CONSTITUTION DAY (Mr. THOMPSON of Pennsylvania asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. THOMPSON of Pennsylvania. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Constitution Day, which is celebrated tomorrow. On September 17, 1787, our Founding Fathers gathered in Philadelphia to sign the United States Constitution, one of the greatest documents in history. For 239 years, this document has served as a beacon of freedom worldwide. Our Constitution guarantees our freedoms, from the right to free speech to the right to practice our faith. It defines the checks and balances that have kept our Nation strong for over two centuries, and it guarantees that all men are created equal. Most importantly, the Constitution guarantees that we the people are at the forefront of our government. It provided us with the opportunity to debate, disagree, and, most importantly, unite as Americans. As our country continues to celebrate 250 years, let us remember the significance of our Constitution and its impact on history. Mr. Speaker, this Constitution Day, let us celebrate the principles that make our Nation great. ____________________
