Mr. OLSZEWSKI. Mr. Speaker, every April, we recognize Fair Housing Month in honor of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, also known as the Fair Housing Act, legislation that prohibited discrimination in housing and expanded opportunity here in America. Yet, nearly 60 years later, the dream of homeownership is slipping away for far too many. As Members of Congress, we must act. That is why I have introduced legislation to establish, for the first time, a standardized national way to track housing loss. It is why I have introduced bipartisan legislation to help communities convert vacant buildings into affordable housing. There is much more that we can do, from supporting tax credits for first-time home buyers to expanding access to small-dollar mortgages. There are also things we should undo, like reversing Trump's tariffs on building materials and reinstating inclusionary borrowing programs that have been canceled by this administration. Every American deserves a safe roof over their head. This Fair Housing Month, let us all recommit to that goal. ____________________
