THANKING MY LEGISLATIVE DIRECTOR, TYLER SAWYER

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 145 (Tuesday, September 15, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 145 (Tuesday, September 15, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Pages E917-E918] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] THANKING MY LEGISLATIVE DIRECTOR, TYLER SAWYER ______ HON. PETE SESSIONS of texas in the house of representatives Tuesday, September 15, 2026 Mr. SESSIONS. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to thank a trusted member of my team and dedicated public servant, my Legislative Director, Tyler Sawyer, as he prepares to conclude more than half a decade of service in my office. Tyler is a native of Waco, which I am proud to represent, and came to Washington after graduating from Trinity University, where he served as captain of the basketball team. On January 3, 2021, he began his career on Capitol Hill in my office as a legislative correspondent, and he has been with me ever since. Over the last six years, I have had the privilege of watching Tyler grow into an exceptional leader. He steadily rose through the ranks of my office, taking on greater responsibilities and earning the trust of his colleagues before ultimately becoming my Legislative Director. Throughout that time, Tyler has distinguished himself through his work ethic, judgment, and commitment to public service. He understands that the work we do here is ultimately about delivering results for the people we have the privilege to represent. While being my Legislative Director, we have seen three of our bills pass the House of Representatives, with one ultimately signed into law. He understands that legislating requires persistence, preparation, and the ability to bring people together around a common purpose. For more than half a decade, I have relied on Tyler not simply as a member of my staff, but to be a team player who never wavers. His counsel has been thoughtful, his commitment to our office firm, and his dedication to the people of Texas' 17th Congressional District evident in everything he has done. Mr. Speaker, public service is strengthened by people who take seriously the responsibility entrusted to them. Tyler Sawyer is one of those people. I thank Tyler for his adaptability, his counsel, and his loyalty over these past six years. It has been a privilege to watch him grow from a young legislative correspondent into the leader he is today. I am proud and grateful for all that he has given to our team, and confident that the same character and determination that defined his time in my office will serve him well in whatever comes next.
