Mr. PETERS submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 2, to provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of S. Con. Res. 33; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title I, insert the following: SEC. ___. APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO THE STATE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM AND THE URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE. (a) In General.--In addition to amounts otherwise available for such purposes, there is appropriated to the Department of Homeland Security for fiscal year 2026, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated-- (1) $700,000,000 to the State Homeland Security Grant Program under section 2004 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 605), to remain available until September 30, 2029; and (2) $500,000,000 to the Urban Area Security Initiative under section 2003 of such Act (6 U.S.C. 604), to remain available until September 30, 2029. (b) Reduction in Funds.--Notwithstanding section 104, the amount appropriated under that section shall be $1,250,000,000. ______
