Lawler Applauds Passage of The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act

Washington, D.C. – 5/20/26… Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) issued the following statement after the Senate passed the 21st Century Road to Housing Act , a bipartisan effort aimed at expanding housing supply and improving affordability across the country. “Today’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is a significant step toward addressing the rising cost and limited availability of housing. Hardworking families have been priced out of homeownership, while outdated regulations, supply shortages, and increased competition have made it harder to find an affordable place to live. This legislation takes meaningful action by cutting barriers that slow housing development, encouraging innovative solutions, and helping ensure that working families have a fair shot at buying a home. Homeownership remains one of the clearest pathways to financial stability and opportunity, and we have a responsibility to make that path more accessible for the next generation,” said Congressman Lawler. Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress and represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. He was rated the most effective freshman lawmaker in the 118th Congress, 8th overall, surpassing dozens of committee chairs. ###
