Washington, D.C. – 5/20/26… Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) issued the following statement after the Senate passed the 21st Century Road to Housing Act , a bipartisan effort aimed at expanding housing supply and improving affordability across the country. “Today’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is a significant step toward addressing the rising cost and limited availability of housing. Hardworking families have been priced out of homeownership, while outdated regulations, supply shortages, and increased competition have made it harder to find an affordable place to live. This legislation takes meaningful action by cutting barriers that slow housing development, encouraging innovative solutions, and helping ensure that working families have a fair shot at buying a home.
