CELEBRATING ITALIAN HERITAGE MONTH

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)] [House] [Page H5836] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] CELEBRATING ITALIAN HERITAGE MONTH (Mr. LATIMER asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. LATIMER. Mr. Speaker, in October, communities come together to celebrate Italian Heritage Month with events, parades, and celebrations taking place all across the country. At home in New York, we will take part in the celebrations at the 99th annual Yonkers Columbus Day parade, featuring live music, a flag- raising ceremony, and concluding with an Italian street festival filled with everyone's favorite Italian dishes and treats. This event will also crown a new Miss Columbus, a longstanding tradition of honoring one resident of Yonkers who exemplifies leadership and service in the community. We will also recognize events to be held in Eastchester, in Port Chester, and in Harrison to celebrate Italian Heritage Month. From the floor of the House of Representatives, I commend the city of Yonkers, alongside the Yonkers Columbus Day Celebration Committee, for continuing to keep these cherished traditions alive and providing a space where our Italian neighbors can gather to celebrate their history and culture. ____________________
