RECOGNIZING MATT PLATT, WREC Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 159 (Friday, October 9, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 159 (Friday, October 9, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Page E1059] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] RECOGNIZING MATT PLATT, WREC ______ HON. GUS M. BILIRAKIS of florida in the house of representatives Friday, October 9, 2026 Mr. BILIRAKIS. Mr. Speaker, it is a privilege to rise today to recognize Mr. Matt Platt, Safety Specialist with Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC), for his outstanding service as part of WREC's second mission supporting the Light Up Navajo Project. The work performed through Light Up Navajo is demanding and requires skilled professionals to operate in challenging conditions while extending electrical infrastructure to families who have lived without power for generations. In an undertaking of this nature, safety is not simply a supporting responsibility--it is fundamental to the success of the entire mission. As Safety Specialist, Mr. Platt played an important role in helping WREC's team carry out its work responsibly and safely. His expertise helped protect the men and women performing this demanding work so they could remain focused on accomplishing their mission and serving Navajo families. The result of their collective efforts reaches far beyond electrical infrastructure. Reliable power means light for children to study, refrigeration for food and medicine, and greater safety and comfort for families and elders. Mr. Platt's contribution exemplifies the teamwork behind Light Up Navajo. Every successful mission depends upon individuals who understand their responsibilities and look out for one another while working toward a common goal. I commend Mr. Matt Platt for his professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to the safety of his colleagues and the success of this important mission. His service reflects great credit upon WREC and our entire community. ____________________
