Ms. SMITH (for herself and Mrs. Blackburn) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill S. 4784, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2027 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title VII, insert the following: SEC. 7___. REPORT AND BRIEFING ON IMPACT OF MILITARY SEXUAL TRAUMA AND INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE ON SUICIDAL IDEATION AND SUICIDE FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES AND VETERANS. (a) In General.--Not later than 18 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, [[Page S3119]] the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, in consultation with the Secretary of Defense, shall submit to the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate, the Committee on Veterans' Affairs of the Senate, the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives, and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs of the House of Representatives and publish on a publicly available website a report, and provide to such committees a briefing, on how experiencing military sexual trauma or intimate partner violence affects the risk of suicidal ideation and suicide for members of the Armed Forces and veterans. (b) Incorporation Into Clinical Practice Guidelines.--Not later than one year after the publication of the report required by subsection (a), the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall incorporate findings on military sexual trauma and intimate partner violence, including the results of the report, as risk factors for suicide and suicidal ideation into the Department of Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense Clinical Practice Guidelines for Assessment and Management of Patients At Risk For Suicide, or similar successor guidelines. ______
