LISA C. McCLAIN of michigan in the house of representatives Thursday, August 13, 2026 Mrs. McCLAIN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Lapeer County for its continued preservation of the Lapeer County Historic Courthouse, a treasured landmark that has stood at the heart of the community for more than 180 years. The Lapeer County Historic Courthouse holds the distinction of being Michigan's oldest continuously operating courthouse still serving its original purpose. Most recently, Lapeer County completed a significant restoration project that carefully preserved and enhanced the courthouse's historic architecture while ensuring it remains functional for generations to come. This accomplishment reflects the county's steadfast commitment to preserving one of Michigan's most cherished landmarks and safeguarding an important part of its heritage.
