REMEMBERING BRUCE BURKART Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)] [House] [Page H5962] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] REMEMBERING BRUCE BURKART (Mr. FITZPATRICK asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. FITZPATRICK. Mr. Speaker, I rise today with a heavy heart to remember Bruce Burkart of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and beloved member of our Bucks County community. Born in Doylestown in 1931, Bruce dedicated his life to serving his country and community. After graduating from North Wales High School, Bruce answered the call to serve our Nation, enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, serving from 1951 through 1954. Mr. Speaker, upon his return, Bruce served the people of New Britain borough as its first building inspector, tax collector, judge of elections, and borough historian. He repaired and maintained the local library, helped restore the local World War I Memorial, and delivered meals through the Bucks County Meals on Wheels program. Mr. Speaker, even after his beloved wife, Nancy, passed away, Bruce continued delivering meals 4 days a week in her honor. Bruce lived a life defined by generosity, humor, and an unwavering commitment to his neighbors. His family will carry his memory forward with great pride. Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the U.S. House of Representatives, we extend our deepest condolences to Bruce Burkart's entire family and all who loved him. ____________________
