Womack Leads Subcommittee Markup of Fiscal Year 2027 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Funding Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — May 21, 2026… Today, House Appropriations Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD), and Related Agencies Subcommittee Chairman Steve Womack (AR-3) led the markup of the Fiscal Year 2027 bill. The measure was approved by the Subcommittee. Chairman Womack delivered the following remarks during the markup, “The bill prioritizes transportation safety—on our railroads, highways, and in our skies—and ensures a responsible safety net with housing support for our most vulnerable citizens, especially the elderly, the disabled, veterans, and the working poor. […] This bill represents a responsible approach that prioritizes core infrastructure needs, maintains an essential safety net for our most vulnerable citizens, and implements the fiscal discipline and regulatory relief that the American people demanded in the last election. I believe the decisions in this bill will have a positive impact in every Congressional district while meeting our responsibility to rein in spending and reduce regulatory overreach.” Full remarks, as prepared for delivery, are available HERE . House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole (OK-4) delivered the following remarks during the markup, “Today’s Transportation, Housing and Urban Development bill is about building a stronger America. With a focus on modernizing infrastructure, improving travel, and supporting communities across the nation – this measure responsibly funds critical priorities while safeguarding taxpayer dollars. […] From our founding, America has always been a nation that builds. This bill continues that tradition by investing in the networks and infrastructure that power commerce, connect communities, and improve everyday life for families.” Chairman Cole’s full remarks, as prepared for delivery, are available HERE .
